“Glee”‘s Matthew Morrison stopped by Ryan’s radio show Monday.  He shared some details into his life before “Glee” and what to expect from Tuesday night’s finale.

What Morrison calls a “game-changing” year stemmed from the wild success of playing Mr. Schuester on “Glee.” “It’s amazing being part of such an amazing cast,” he said of the cast.  With any show of such immense success, the actors of “Glee” have long, grueling schedules. Morrison explained, “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s 16-17 hour days, when we’re shooting one episode we’re in rehearsals and [the] recording studio for the next episode.  We never see our trailers.”

Amongst all the different styles of music used on the show, Morrison admits that rapping is the most difficult. Ryan took this opportunity to ask Morrison to sing along with him to Young M.C.’s, “Bust A Move.” He was a good sport and went along with it!

While Morrison “[has] no idea what’s going on next season,” he says that Tuesday night’s finale is a “very emotional episode.”  He revealed Quinn Fabray has a baby and the cast does a big Journey medley! Gleeks should be “sad but uplifted, and left wanting more,” he said of the finale, “I’m going to be singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ with my ukulele…Mark is going to back me up with guitar.” He revealed to Ryan that he actually sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for his audition tape for “Glee.”

When asked about his character on “Glee” being based on anyone in particular, he said, “I had several teachers that I kind of combine into Mr. Schuester that have paved the way for me and were inspirational teachers.”  One of these teachers is Dr. Ralph Opasic who taught him at the Orange County High School of the Arts, which is where Morrison said he learned everything from.

“It doesn’t surprise me,” Dr. Opasic said of Matthew’s fame, “When you see Mat perform, whether it be on stage or on television, there’s that charisma that comes through.” He explained that when Matthew was in 10th grade, Susan Egan, the other Tony nominated alumni from OCSA, performed with him when she visited the school.  When she walked off stage she said of Mathew, “He’s your next big success.”

Morrison addressed rumors about having a romantic relationship with his co-star, Lea Michele. “We laugh about it, it’s just funny,” he said of the false rumor. “I’ve known her since she was a kid, from Broadway.”  Although the two are not romantically involved, they “will be performing [in sequence] on the Tony Awards.”

He’ll be performing something from a Broadway musical, but what it is he is keeping to himself. He explained that he’s “a big jazz guy,” so maybe we can expect something from “Chicago”? We’ll just have to tune in to find out!

Finally, Ryan asked about Morrison’s great hair, to which he responded, “I use Lubriderm…six squirts, ready to go.” Ahh, so that’s the secret!
