The captain and defender of the U.S. soccer team, Carlos Bocanegra joined Ryan on air live on Thursday from his hot tub in South Africa to discuss all things World Cup.

As for the first game versus England, which ended in a draw, Bocanegra said, “We were happy with the result, it was a fair result.” After England’s goalie flubbed a shot, Bocanegra says he felt his pain. “It’s too bad man, I can’t even imagine how he’s feeling at the moment,” he said, “You don’t even like to see that as a fellow player [and] fellow athlete, you know, someone making a mistake of that magnitude to hurt his team, but it was unfortunate for him but we were lucky enough to profit from it.”

The U.S. will be going up against Slovenia on Friday, and Bocanegra admits he’s already been hearing them boast and guarantee a win against the U.S. “We kind of laugh that off a bit,” Bocanegra says, “That has come back to bite a lot of floor stars in the butt [with] people making predictions, so I’m not really worried about it too much. We’re going to go out there and focus on a hard game and we’re pretty confident in our camp over here so we’re not worried about smack.”

We’re sure there will be plenty of vuvuzelas (those annoying horns) present at Friday’s game, which Bocanegra says he will not be looking for. “Honestly I’m not a big fan of them but it’s part of their culture and part of the tournament down here, so we’ve just got to deal with it.”

The guys of the U.S. team are resting up well and getting ready to dominate! “We get quite a bit of down time but as much as free time it’s a little more difficult with the security…they have to coordinate our movements around the World Cup.”

Before his games, Bocanegra admitted he loves listening to “OMG” by Usher ft. Will. I. Am.. Who can blame him, it’s a great song!  We’ll see if Usher can lull him into sweet World Cup victory.
