Justin Bieber: Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” Inspired New Song “Pray” [AUDIO]
Teen phenomenon Justin Bieber called “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Wednesday to chat about his fast-changing world as he continues on a nationwide concert tour, promotes a new acoustic album, and ramps up for his first feature film among other things.
In the interview, Ryan kicked off the radio debut of Justin’s newest single “Pray” a song that he says was a much needed departure from the music industry’s love-sick themes.
“There’s so many songs about love and I think that it’s great to take it out of that world for a minute,” explained Bieber who is known for his romantically charged song. “There’s other things that are important and I just wanted to be motivational.”
“It’s a very uplifting song, very motivational, it definitely comes from the heart,” said the 16 year-old singer/songwriter. “I think everybody young or old will be able to relate to this song.”
Bieber has frequently listed Michael Jackson as one of his biggest influences, and he explained that the late King of Pop had a particularly poignant influence on “Pray.”
“I definitely thought of Michael’s “Man In The Mirror” when I wrote it,” said Bieber. Jackson’s critically-acclaimed 1988 hit was nominated for Grammy for Record of the Year, and was said to be one of Jackson’s favorite songs.
You can find “Pray” on Bieber’s new release of My Worlds Acoustic hitting Wal-Mart exclusively on Black Friday, November 26.
