“On Air with Ryan Seacrest” welcomed Hollywood’s most well-known doctor, Dr. Drew, Thursday to discuss his new HLN show “Dr. Drew.” The good doctor also gave Ryan the low-down on when and more importantly how parents should have ‘the talk’ with their kids.
Dr. Drew’s is adding to his resume of “Celebrity Rehab” and “The Dr. Drew Show” with upcoming prime time show “Dr. Drew.” The show will explore “why people do what they do” adding the show is about, “getting deeper…I found already that people will go ‘OMG, that’s not an interview, and I’m like ‘that’s just want I do’.”
As for when parents should ‘have the talk’ with their kids, Dr. Drew explained, “the earlier you can establish some kind of repore with them about difficult questions the better.” Furthering, what may come as a surprise, “to just sit down and give the talk is a huge mistake.” Why? Because, “you want them to come to you to find out about the difficult issues…versus [them getting] freaked out and don’t come back.”
As to how to do so, Dr. Drew instructs, “I’m going to start and you tell me when you want to stop” explaining, “it’s overwhelming for them to hear all this at once.”
