From the judges’ trailers to the control room to the contestants’ lounge, check out Ryan’s new backstage tour of “American Idol“!

AmericanIdol.com released the new video Tuesday, giving viewers an inside look into how the massive show airs without (nearly) a hitch every week.

In the video, Ryan tells an interesting story from season two of when he was trapped in an elevator with finalists Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken and stage manager Debbie.

“We were two minutes to air,” explained Ryan from the very same elevator inside the studio. “We thought well if we don’t make it, they’ll have to start the show and put a camera right at the door. They were moving a camera to the front of this door to actually start the show with us coming out of the elevator being saved.”
