The Emmy winning talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, called into “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Monday to chat about the season premiere of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“We shot it a couple of days ago, but it airs today. As you know Ashton likes to punk people. We were planning on doing a cold open, where we were making fun of the fact that he is always naked and we decided to have my mother in the cold open. He is standing there in a robe and I walked into the room, he was waiting for me.”
Ellen continues, “I looked at him and I said ‘I actually have a bad feeling about this’ and he said ‘You should.’ My mother is eighty years old, and she’s sitting right next to us. He said ‘I know, I know.’ I could tell that something was wrong, and when he took his robe off, he has wearing something that was just so life-like, and so huge. My poor mother, she hasn’t gotten out of bed since.”
Ellen also brings on “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, Chaz Bono later in the week. Ellen told us what she thinks about the controversy surrounding Chaz’s sex change. “I don’t understand why it is such a big deal to people what other people do with their lives. Feeling like he was not in the right body and now he is. He is going out on television and trying to live his life and people are upset about it. I think it is a brave thing to do.”

As if the new season wasn’t enough for Ellen, she has a new comedy project that she will be executive producing for NBC. Her wife, Portia de Rossi, will be the leading lady.
“We have a production company and we have been trying to put some shows together. Portia has been so picky about what she has done, since she has a good track record with “Ally McBeal,” “Arrested Development,” and “Better Off Ted.” It will probably take a year or so, but it’s a really funny show and a funny idea.”
