Patrick collaborated with long time friend Lupe Fiasco for the single. Both Patrick and Lupe are from Chicago and they song they pay homage to their hometown on the song. On the song you will hear influences of pop, soul, and R&B.

From the title “This City,” one may expect to see a lot of city shots in the video. However, the city images are actually quite minimal. The music video, directed by Ken Koller uses mostly colors and lights to represent life the “city.”
