Kiefer Sutherland called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to talk about his new FOX television show Touch which will premiere in a special one-hour preview on Jan. 25 after American Idol, and what we might expect from upcoming feature film, 24.

Kiefer returns to television tonight playing the part of a concerned parent of a son with unusual abilities, but why did Keifer come back to television sooner then expected? He says:

“I was around page 30 [of the pilot script], and went…’dammit.’ I knew I wanted to do this, and It’s been an amazing experience so far! Tim Kring has been fantastic, the writer and producer of the show, and I’ve really really enjoyed myself.” Check out a preview of the show below, and be sure to stay tuned after tonight’s American Idol to watch.

Kiefer talks about the upcoming 24 feature film saying: “We are scheduled to start towards the end of April. We have a fantastic script, and we’re just putting all the pieces together rather quickly. As soon as the first season for Touch is finished we are planning to start moving in to that [24].

However who can we expect to join Jack Bauer‘s crusade against unspeakable and as of yet unknown evil? After some hesitation Kiefer hints: “As it stands now there is room for someone like Elisha Cutherbert, and there certainly is room for Chloe [Mary Lynn Rajskub], and we will have to see what happens.”

Ellen K questioned the action star concerning their earlier years of partying together. Kiefer replied: “That’s the great thing about partying is that you don’t really remember those days all! Every day is a clean slate!” Shortly after a chorus of laughter from the hosts Keifer jokes, “It’s only funny because its true!”

Lastly the Touch leading man was extremely appreciative saying: “I really appreciate you making the time. We’re in the middle of shooting right now, and I can’t wait to come in and see you studio like the old days.”
