(Photo: YouTube Screen Shot) Teen Gaby Rodriguez Talks About Faking A Pregnancy for ‘Pregnancy Project’ [AUDIO]
Gaby Rodriguez called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Wednesday to talk about her experience of faking a pregnancy for a school project and why she decided to do it.
Gaby’s story made headlines when she revealed that as a high school senior she faked her own pregnancy to see how her family, friends, and community would react. Only her mother, her boyfriend, her school principal and a handful of other people knew her secret.
Gaby decided to do the experiment because she saw that teen pregnancy was an issue in her own family as well as in her community. She wanted to bring awareness to teens about unprotected sex and to encourage them “not to feel like it’s the end of the road and push forward towards their education,” she says.

During the experiment, Gaby a straight “A” student says she was being told, “I wasn’t going to graduate from high school, I wasn’t going to go to college, I was irresponsible, and I wasn’t going to do anything with my life,” she says. One teacher even said, “She is so dumb doesn’t she know she just ruined her life?”
She continues, “There were some teachers that were very supportive telling me that I had a lot pf potential and I was going to push forward from this.” Gaby tells us when she revealed her stunt, “I got a standing ovation from my fellow students and everybody was really proud of me. telling me how inspiring I was and how courageous I was to do this.”
At this time Gaby tells us she doesn’t have any plans for any future projects or experiments. “I just plan on going back to school and getting into my college life again,” she says. Gaby’s book The Pregnancy Project: A Memoir is available in bookstores now and The Pregnancy Project premieres on Lifetime on Saturday January 28th at 8/7c.
