According to Deadline Hollywood, broadcast network ABC has picked up a new “Beauty and the Beast” TV pilot to air this fall. It is going to be somewhat of a period drama, a fantasy world where a tough princess develops an unusual connection with a dangerous beast.

ABC is owned by Disney, which allows them to use well-known and beloved characters such as Snow White, Cinderella, and all the other princesses we love. Their current drama, Once Upon a Time, already uses those names, and this reincarnation of “Beauty and the Beast” will most likely air along-side Once.

The show will not be animated, but live-action. It won’t shoot for a few more months, but with a name like Disney on the line, who knows what big name actors might be signed on to play the title roles.
