Disney‘s “John Carter” hits theaters this Friday and controversy is still buzzing about the movie’s marketing strategies.
The marketing campaign had taken a different route, cutting the original name from “John Carter of Mars” to a simple “John Carter.” The sci-fi film also did not release an action-packed trailer, at first. It is reported that Disney put $250 million into the film and to help excite the public, the first 10 minutes of the movie has been released.

According to ScreenRant, “John Carter” is based on the sci-fi novel series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The series tells the story of a Civil War-era confederate soldier who is transported to planet Mars. He finds himself in the middle of another civil war, but this time, among alien races and an imperiled princess in the story is in need of a champion. Because of Mars’ lower gravity, John Carter finds he has superhero-level strength, making him a vital character to the Martian war.
