After premiering the teaser for her music video last week, we got even more excited to see Katy battling it out on the front lines. She’s stronger than ever as she sings the words: “Throw your sticks and stones / Throw your bombs and your blows / But you’re not gonna break my soul.”

In the full-length video, Katy plays a small-town girl who catches her boyfriend cheating on her. After storming off, she sees an ad for the Marines in a gas station and immediately chops off her hair in anger. Next, she’s in training with other fierce men and women and burning the “I’m Sorry” letter she gets from her ex.
What inspired Katy to make such an intense video? She told MTV: “I love to take chances… It feels like one of the most aggressive songs I’ve ever put out. I wanted to go the strongest route I possibly could.” The Marines in the video are really troops, not actors. Katy also learned some cool skills like how to flip someone on his back, wrestle under water and she ate the same food that the Marines eat. She hopes people “really respond to it” and understand that she didn’t “half-ass” her efforts.
