Hair and makeup is an important part of any film because it helps the actors get into their characters. But these five guys needed a little more than some eyeliner and a dollop of hair gel to complete the transformation, and in all five cases, their makeovers fueled their hilarious comedic performances.

1. Sean Hayes in “The Three Stooges”

For his starring role as Larry Fine, the former “Will & Grace” actor was transformed. Not only did they give him the classic hairstyle required for the character, but he spends most of the movie bending his face into hilarious expressions, like the one above, which help make him almost unrecognizable.

2. Eddie Murphy in “The Nutty Professor”

Even though he voices an animated donkey in “Shrek,” we’re pretty sure this is the least that Eddie has ever looked like Eddie! In the film, the veteran actor plays multiple characters and no two look alike.

3. Jim Carrey in “The Grinch”

Jim has played so many characters but they’re almost all jovial and fun. To play the green curmudgeon who steals everyone’s favorite holiday, the funnyman had to put on a lot of a makeup and a very sour face.

4. Robin Williams in “Mrs. Doubtfire”

This one is an oldie but a goodie. Robin played a father who poses as a nanny to spend more time with his kids, so both the actor and the character went through an amazing transformation.

5. Tom Cruise in “Tropic Thunder”

This handsome man put on some pretty ridiculous makeup and chest hair for the sake of comedy and it definitely made us laugh!
