Proctor & Gamble New Ad Praising Moms Goes Viral, Has Web Sobbing Uncontrollably [VIDEO]
The Olympics haven’t even started yet and we may already have the tearjerker moment of the Summer.
Proctor & Gamble, makers of Tide, Pampers, and Duracell, rolled out an ad yesterday in celebration of 100 days until the opening ceremonies, within 24 hours it was pushing a quarter-million views on YouTube. Part of their new “Thank You, Mom” campaign, the two-minute film celebrates athletes’ moms and the countless hours they too put into training, travel and good old-fashioned moral support. Running through the end the Olympics, the campaign is P&G’s first global effort and biggest in its 174-year history.
“P&G is in the business of helping moms, not just moms of Olympians, all moms, all around the world,” said Marc Pritchard, P&G Global Marketing and Brand Building Officer. “So we’re using our voice at the Olympic Games to thank moms everywhere.” P&G is an official partner of the London Summer Games.
Shot in past, present and future Olympic cities Beijing, Los Angeles, London, and Rio de Janeiro, film was helmed by Oscar-nominated director Alejandro González Iñárritu, the creative mind behind “Amores perros” and Brad Pitt‘s “Babel.” In each city, P&G tapped local actors and athletes to be featured in the film and showcased Olympic sports volleyball, swimming, track and field, and gymnastics. P&G made nearly 20 versions of the film to be distributed around the world in different languages, many of which can be seen on their YouTube page.
