Adam Yauch founding member of hip-hop group Beastie Boys has passed at the age of 47.

Adam, also know as MCA, had been diagnosed in 2009 with cancer, and subsequently submitted to surgery and radiation treatment as well as adopting a vegan lifestyle.

In 1979 Yauch had co-founded Beastie Boys alongside of Mike “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz. He leaves behind a wife and daughter.
