Amidst rumors that she has split with Florence and the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, singer Katy Perry is speaking out about the downfall of her last relationship, with ex-husband Russell Brand, in her new song, “Wide Awake.”

“Wide Awake” is the second single off of “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection,” an updated version of Perry’s last album. Kitty-Kats were overjoyed as she debuted her latest song last night at the Billboard Music Awards and subsequently released it’s associated lyric video.

Along with the lyrics, the video incorporates images of Katy’s Facebook posts from Perry discussing the success of “Teenage Dream,” including Perry’s three American Music Award nominations.

Perry’s success is reportedly what caused the rift between her and Brand. The song was written for Perry’s upcoming 3D film,”Katy Perry: Part of Me.” In the song, Perry mentions falling in love at first, but sings, “…Now it’s clear to me, that everything you see, ain’t always what it seems.”
