A group of engineering students at Utah State University, known as the “Ascending Aggies,” have invented something that could make it possible for many people to climb walls, even skyscrapers. The creation is called the Personal Vacuum Assisted Climber. The device consists of a vacuum motor that powers two suction paddles and sticks onto any building surface including glass, stucco, or brick. It’s powerful enough to support up to 700 pounds, depending on the altitude.
The “Spider-Man” inspired creation is nowhere close to being perfect. However, it won’t stop us from picturing ourselves climbing buildings and impressing everyone around us.
