In what could be the singer’s last single for quite some time, Katy Perry released her highly-anticipated music video for, “Wide Awake.” Written by the pop star herself, the song was made for Katy’s upcoming concert movie, “Part Of Me,” out July 5.

Shot by Lance Drake, who has worked alongside Young Jeezy and Sublime with Rome, the music video serves as a symbol to Katy’s past experiences as an artist and human being. ”It’s kind of like the labyrinth of my life in the past two years,” Katy told MTV News. “I just wanted to tell a story about myself kind of going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze. There’s good parts and bad parts.”

The good stuff could include her most recent album, Teenage Dream, which features huge hits including “Firework,” “The One That Got Away,” and “California Gurls.” The not so magical stuff may be her public divorce to ex Russell Brand. In the music video, Katy is seen smacking a deceitful Prince Charming. Katy’s not saying who the prince is but we might have an idea.
