Stupendously Overpriced Designer Items Include $760 Chanel Hand Weights [PHOTOS]
The popular “Dress-Up” Band-Aids by designer Cynthia Rowley have returned. After selling out in 2010, Rowley’s online store has re-released the stylish stickies for a limited time. In addition, the line now includes beachwear for your fingers. The new “Beach Sport Kit” features waterproof Band-Aids in a variety of summer colors, with some designs imitating mini-surfboards.
For the low price of $5 for a box of 20, it’s easy to see why this unique designer item is so popular. Not to mention, who doesn’t need a Band-Aid every now and again? But aside from Band-Aids, you would be surprised as to how many useless designer items are out there. MTV Canada came up with a great list of their favorites and we’ve added some of our own. From coloring books to tape measures, these everyday items are slated for the very best. (if you can afford them, that is.)
Hermes Coloring Book ($140)
From the famous Hermes scarf to the Hermes coloring book for kids. This designer book boasts a hefty price tag for only 12 pages and 24 pictures to color. However, it’s guaranteed to keep the kids busy for at least a few hours, as we’re sure they will be taking their time coloring each image between the lines. With a coloring book this expensive, mistakes are not permissible.
Marc Jacobs Tape Measure ($30-$40)
This Marc by Marc Jacobs tape measure isn’t as costly as the item above, but $40 for an item as ordinary as this seems a bit extreme. Sure, the case is cute and hot pink is a popular summer color, but how often are you actually going to use it?
Tiffany & Co. Pen ($150)
Speaking of hot colors, no color is more well-known than bright Tiffany blue. This gorgeous pen from Tiffany & Co. is perfect for the professional writer, scribe, note taker…ok, so how many professional scribes and note takers do you know? Basically, we can’t justify spending $150 on a pen even this pretty. We’d rather spend $150 on a breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Chanel Hand Weights ($760)
Ladies, ever since Madonna and Michelle Obama started the ripped arms trend, we’ve all been working out with the weights like nobody’s business. Thanks to Chanel, we can now lift in style, with these adorable personal pink hand weights. The $760 price tag is steep, and these babies are certainly not something you’d want to lose in the gym, but if you work out regularly, we say go for it!
Lanvin Paris Playing Cards ($75)
These playing cards are only for the serious solitaire player. The personalized box includes two sets of cards, decorated with original sketches by Alber Elbaz, Lanvin’s artistic director since 2001. If you count the fact that you are getting two sets, than each deck really only costs around $37.50. We’d be skeptical if the designs weren’t so cute, and just think of how happy grandma will be when you bring these cards over to play?
