Olympic Child Prodigies [PHOTOS]
From Justin Bieber to Taylor Swift, Hollywood is full of young prodigies. The Biebs was just 13 years old when he signed his first record deal and Taylor only 12 when she penned her first song. In the sports world, the Olympics are no exception when it comes to showcasing adolescent talent. Athletes train for years for the chance to compete for a gold medal, but these young Olympians are living that dream at an age that defies the odds.
While most teens are learning how to drive, 16-year-old Erica Wu is prepping to compete for the U.S. women’s table tennis team. At age 17, when most students are looking forward to prom and graduation, Gabby Douglas will be competing on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team. When the opening ceremony kicks off on July 27, these participants will be among some of the youngest in the world taking part.
