Demi Lovato Dishes On ‘X-Factor’ and Friendship With Selena Gomez [PHOTOS]
In a new interview with Self Magazine, singer Demi Lovato is opening up once again about her past struggles as a teenage star. The “Give Your Heart A Break” singer talks candidly about her past struggles with an eating disorder as well as the future with a new job as an “X-Factor” judge and mentor.
While touring with Hot Chelle Rae in 21 cities this summer, Demi sat down with the magazine for an open and honest conversation. In addition, the star is showing off her blonde locks as part of a relaxing photo shoot on the beach. Summer appears to be looking bright for Demi.
On Joining “The X-Factor:”
“I root for everyone. I mean, it’s not the best feeling when you’re watching someone and cringing. But when a person’s confidence is magnetic, I don’t even have to hear her to think, Oh, this girl has got something.”
On Her Friendship With Selena Gomez:
“Selena and I aren’t as close as we used to be, but she’ll always have a place in my heart.”
Why She Chooses To Be Open About Her Past:
“When I was younger, stick-figure thin was in and nobody was talking about eating disorders. I want girls to know that it’s OK when they grow up and their body changes. I want them to be aware that certain things they might do to lose weight can be dangerous—life-threatening, even.”
Her Daily Struggle To Stay Healthy:
“I’ve spent the past two years getting over an eating disorder and issues like self-harming and bipolar disorder. Unlike a person who doesn’t have these problems, I have to work on this stuff every day. I’m reminded of that whenever I eat or feel down.”
