‘Today Show’ Host Matt Lauer Can ‘Actually Have A Life’ In London [AUDIO]
Matt Lauer called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Tuesday after running into Ryan earlier on his way home from the gym. The two chatted about being in London for the Olympics and what the audience can expect at the opening ceremony.
On The Opening Ceremony:
“I went there [to an opening ceremony rehearsal] with Meredith [Vieira] last night and it’s wild, there’s no question about it. It’s a lot to get your arms around, but I think the people at home are going to love it. It’s got all the right elements, a couple of wow moments,” Matt tells us. “There are elements that are completely embargoed. There’s huge messages up on these big screen TVs that basically say ‘Don’t Spoil The Secret.’ A lot of the elements that are going to be in the show, that we know about were not even done for this audience. Because they know they can’t trust people to go home and not share things.”
On Doing The ‘Today Show’ From London:
“The entire gang arrives tomorrow morning. We’ll do the show from Tower Bridge, kind of kick it off, and then get ready for the opening ceremony, which is a little daunting.” So, being in London how does Matt feel about not having to get up in the middle of the night to do the show? “It’s just the greatest. European Olympic Games work out great for us there’s no question. We can actually even have a life, we can go out at night and enjoy a little bit of the restaurants, and a little bit of the wine. So, this schedule could not work out better for us.”
