Banksy And Other Artists Cover London With Olympic Street Art
As Olympic fanfare continues to escalate with the approach Friday’s Opening Ceremony, street artists in London have found a way to portray the Olympics in an artistic and slightly different light.
Illusive street artist Banksy recently revealed two Olympic-inspired pieces of street art. The first, pictured above, shows a javelin thrower preparing to throw a missile, while the other shows a pole-vaulter flying over a barbed wire fence.
London has recently issued numerous crackdowns on street artists in attempts to keep areas around Olympic venues graffiti free. Many of the Olympic pieces have since been removed or covered, creating controversy regarding what qualifies as street art and what qualifies as graffiti.
