New Gotye Parody Mocks The Overplayed ‘Somebody I Used To Know’ [VIDEO]
Many a hardcore music lover has felt the deep pain that comes with their favorite unknown song suddenly going viral.
In the case of indie musician Gotye, his fan base grew steadily over the years as news of his music spread from Australia to other part of the world. “Original” fans probably remember the track “Somebody I Used To Know” from when it was first released in 2011, but it didn’t become a major commercial success in the United States until 2012.
And so we have the dilemma featured in this next clip, a parody of the original music video featuring Kimbra, by comedian Eric Schwartz. In the video Eric describes how he discovered the “special video” before it became popular, but how hearing it so much has brought him to hate the song and the musicians he once loved.
Watch as he sings his feelings and struggles to break up with Gotye and Kimbra in the video below. Have you ever had to break-up with your favorite song because it rose too high in popularity?
