Newly named “MTV Video Music Awards” host Kevin Hart, called in to “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” on Thursday to talk about his new gig, the chemistry on set of the promotional video with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and life before he hit it big.

Who Came Up With Idea For The Promo Video?
“I hate to be the guy that takes all the credit, but it was me. It was me. I’ve known Kanye for a minute; I’ve known Kim for a while. Of course, I’m a little closer to Kanye than Kim, but I had a funny idea and I told them about it, I pitched it to them, and they both were on board. We actually had a good time doing it. it didn’t even take us long. They were actually fun. We had a lot of chemistry in the room. It was cool.”

“Hilarious. Hilarious. I’ve known Kanye. I try to stay out of Kanye’s personal life. I know that they got a great relationship.”

On Being Chosen To Host The VMAs:
“I’m beyond excited. I can say right now I’m so happy because things in my career continue to get bigger so right now hosting the VMAs is huge. This is a great opportunity. I plan on really, really bringing that shock value to the VMAs. I think the one thing about me being a comedian: A) I get along with everybody, so I get away with more stuff than the average person could. I’m about to get into some trouble man.”
