“It’s cute but heartbreaking but funny but sad – its just one of those moments,” said Ryan before mom, Vanessa and son, Dustin called into On Air with Ryan Seacrest to discuss his obsession with Nicki Minaj, his singing ability and why exactly mom wouldn’t just let him sing!

Dustin was told by mom he wasn’t allowed to sing – even the clean version?
“Yes! But to tell you the truth, Mommy does let him listen to the clean version! My son is completely obsessed! So it was probably the 50th time that day that he wanted to rerun the clean version and I had to say no! And that’s the only part we were having an issue with, is how many times a day he gets to watch it.”

When did he first display this obsession with Nicki Minaj?
“It started about 6 months ago, and its every single day, he’s not even a foot in the door before it’s literally, ‘can I please watch YouTube!’”

How did Dustin first get introduced to Nicki?
“Well we are big fans of KIIS FM and between my 10 year-old daughter Lacey, and my son who’s 3, between all three of us, the only station we agree on is KIIS FM. So that song ‘lets go to the beach,’ he wanted to watch it on YouTube because my daughter happened to be searching some videos and he asked for that one. As soon as he realized he found it, it has been an obsession since that day.”
