“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”

While the marriage between Ashton and Demi lasted quite a long time by Hollywood standards, it seems their sixteen year age gap couldn’t stand the test of time.

“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi,” Ashton tweeted. He added on his Chime page, “Marriage is one the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK.”

The couple has not made a public appearance together in months but recently went camping and were attending Kabbalah counseling in their private lives. Ashton and Demi also reportedly stayed at former husband Bruce Willis‘ house on Turks and Caicos to bond as well.
