In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 22-year-old gave her reason on choosing “Free” as her first single. “From the first chord the piano hit, just hearing the piano raw, alone was cool. The chords aren’t your typical chords,” she said. “The chord progression was beautiful. It’s a waltz, which also caught my attention, because I love that.”

This blonde bombshell is set to release her first album Listen Up! May 22.

Both Lana Del Rey and Haley Reinhart performed on last night’s episode. Lana performed her song “Video Games” in a girly white mini-dress and casual flats. The indie-pop sensation performed well, despite the negative buzz about her infamous performance on SNL.

Before the elimination, Haley Reinhart performed her new single “Free,” in a giant birdcage! Haley wore a long red gown, and sported a hair clip that almost out-shined one of Randy’s controversial clips! Her performance was upbeat and entertaining. It was great seeing this talent return to the Idol stage.

American Idol’s resident vocal coach channeled his inner Simon Cowell with his advice for the contestants last night. Jimmy told Hollie Cavanagh that she was “a sweet diva caught in the headlights,” and told DeAndre Brackensick, ”too much frolicking and bopping around.”  His comments didn’t stop there either; Joshua Ledet needs to be careful of his “Darth Vader thing” when he sings too low, while lastly stating that Heejun Han’s antics are like “a bad Adam Sandler movie.”

It’s been just one month since the gripping finale of “American Idol” that crowned 17-year-old Scotty McCreery, but there’s been little downtime for the 11 finalists of the highly-successful season 10. With the Idols Live! tour kicking off next month, the top 11 have been working on mastering songs and choreography for the full stage show set to kick off July 6 in West Valley City, Utah.

Cameras were invited to an Idols Live! rehearsal day last week and were treated by Casey, Haley, Jacob, James, Lauren, Naima, Paul, Pia, Scotty, Stefano and Thia to three songs from the tour. First up was a melodic rendition of Montgomery Gentry‘s “Gone,” a song which Scotty originally sang for “Songs from Then and Now” week. The group then broke out into a group favorite and industry standard “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King, a song that has been covered over 400 times by some of music’s biggest stars. Wrapping up the session, the Idols performed the obligatory hit of late 2010/early 2011, Cee Lo Green‘s Grammy Award-winning anthem, “Forget You.”

Top three “American Idol” eliminee Haley Reinhart phoned in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Monday to chat being eliminated as well as her post-”Idol” experience.

Although not in the top 2 now, Haley still remains positive, exclaiming, “I’m very excited for the future and this has just been…such a great start for everything that’s to come.” Adding that being eliminated, “only makes you stronger — adds about 10 million layers to my skin…it’s been the best thing for me to have face a number of different obstacles.”

Before her time on ‘Idol’ was up, Haley shared how she’d go about before hitting the stage, admitting she’d, “need quick moment of isolation before I go out there…I pace a lot…you only have a few seconds to think and I like to take that time…sometimes I wouldn’t wear my contacts so I couldn’t see anybody — it’d be all a blur.”

As for former contestant and rumored more-than-friends friend Casey Abrams, Haley says, “we just had such a blast together and our personalities just really complimented each other. We both also have an undying love for jazz, and that’s what it is.”

Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery were crowned season 10 “American Idol” finalists last night, sending Haley Reinhart home.

Ryan reveals, direct from Hollywood, “just before they all found out the last commericial break the three of them were standing out there, nervous, not talking too much and we announced the country finale for ‘American Idol’ and the two of our youngest contestants ever.”

Ryan also shares, “as soon as we finished the show, they broke down the stage — they took the stage apart, put it on flatbed trucks and a couple pickup trucks and drove it from Hollywood to downtown Los Angeles to start setting up the finale stage.”

As for who will be joining Lauren and Scotty on that finale stage? Ryan hints, “next week we’ll probably find out more about who is performing with the finalist — what superstars will be there.”

And DON’T FORGET! “American Idol” will be moving to Tuesday night next week, and the following Wednesday @ 8/7c on FOX
